Sidewalk And
Walkway Clearing
Entrances, walkways and fire routes cleared and treated by sidewalk tractors and hand crews, timed to the hour your doors open.
Walkways And Entrances
Pedestrian surfaces are where people get hurt. A lot can be plowed perfectly and the property still has a problem if the walk to the front door is packed snow or glazed ice.
Walkways are cleared on their own schedule, timed to when your building opens rather than when the lot gets done. For most properties that means crews are finished before staff, tenants or customers arrive.
Every cleared surface is treated afterwards, and the visit is logged. Curb cuts and accessible parking are checked on every pass, because those are the first places a plow windrow blocks.
What We Clear
- Building entrances and vestibule approaches
- Sidewalks along the property frontage
- Interior walkways between buildings
- Stairs, landings and ramp approaches
- Accessible parking spaces and curb cuts
- Fire routes and emergency exits
- Paths to garbage enclosures and transit stops
- Drop-off areas and bus loops
How Each Surface Is Cleared
| Method | Where it is used | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sidewalk tractor | Long runs of sidewalk and connected walkways. | Plow or rotary broom, keeps edges clean |
| Snow blower | Deep snow and the windrow left at curb cuts. | Throws clear instead of piling on the walk |
| Hand shovelling | Stairs, landings, tight entrances and vestibules. | Where no machine fits |
| Ice chipping | Refrozen areas and runoff below downspouts. | Done before any de-icer goes down |
| De-icer application | Every surface once it is cleared. | Material matched to the temperature |
| Site check | All pedestrian routes, between events. | Recorded on the patrol sheet |
How It Is Timed
Before You Open
Crews are scheduled so entrances, walkways and accessible parking are cleared and treated before staff and visitors arrive.
Through The Day
In an ongoing storm we return on a set interval. Entrances and high traffic routes are kept open rather than cleared once and left.
After The Plow
Plowing leaves a windrow across curb cuts and walkway ends. Those get opened back up and treated as part of the clean-up pass.
